75 Issues Later … I Finally Know What To Call This.
Seventy-five issues of Brainwaves & Bullsh*t.
Three years and eight months of building Multifamily Mentor Matchmaking.
A whole lot of introductions, conversations, experiments, ideas, uncomfortable moments, new friendships, “you two should know each other” messages and more than a few “what if we tried this?” moments later … here we are at issue #76.
And it felt like the right time for something to evolve.
Welcome to Amplified Connections!
I haven’t published a newsletter in a while, and I’m not going to do the big sorry-for-disappearing thing. The truth is, I have become much more thoughtful about what I put into this community and what I ask you to give your attention to.
There is already PLENTY competing for our attention every single day.
If I am going to show up in your inbox, I want to earn my way in.
I want to make you think. I want to introduce you to someone you should know. I want to amplify a voice you may not have heard before. I want to start conversations that might not happen otherwise. Maybe you learn something. Maybe you disagree with something. Maybe you meet someone. Maybe one sentence gives you the nudge you needed that day.
I don’t want to add to your inbox; I want to add to your thinking.
When I started Multifamily Mentor Matchmaking, three words became the foundation for what I wanted this community to represent:
Empower. Connect. Thrive.
Three years and eight months later, I understand those words differently than I did when I started.
EMPOWER people to use their voices, share what they know, ask for help, take a chance and show up as themselves.
CONNECT people to other people, ideas, opportunities and conversations they may never have found on their own.
And hopefully, through all of that, give each other a little more room to THRIVE.
I started this community with an idea, but all of YOU have helped show me what it could actually become.
The best parts were never things I could have perfectly planned. They came from the person who raised their hand. The member who shared something vulnerable. The stranger who joined a call without knowing anyone. The introduction that turned into an opportunity. The mentor who made time. The person who finally asked the question they had been afraid to ask. The relationships that continued long after the event, call or introduction was over.
That is what I want more of.
And that is also why Amplified Connections feels like the right name now.
Amplified Connections is my LLC and the umbrella that this award-winning mentorship movement, Multifamily Mentor Matchmaking, and the Multifamily Breakfast Club live under.
They may look different from the outside, but they share the same heartbeat.
Amplifying people and their voices.
Connecting people who should know each other.
Creating spaces where more people feel comfortable joining the conversation.
Connection has always been one of my love languages. I LOVE making the introduction. Creating the room. Handing someone the microphone. Watching someone find their people. Seeing what can happen when the right two humans somehow end up in each other’s orbit.
And somewhere along the way … I realized amplification belongs right beside connection.
Sometimes people simply need someone to say, I see something in you. Say it louder.
So that is what I want this newsletter to become too.
And if you are brand new here, I want you to know something.
You’re not late to the party.
You do not need to know everybody. You do not need a certain title. You do not need to be the loudest person in the room. You do not have to earn your way into the conversation.
Come to the call. Join us at an event. Ask the question. Make the intro. Raise your hand. Share the idea.
There is room for your voice here!
Which brings me to something I absolutely want to bring back from many of the first 75 issues…
Guest contributors.
Because if I am calling this thing Amplified Connections, it sure as hell shouldn’t only amplify MY voice!
Maybe you have a whole article inside you or … maybe you don’t.
Maybe you have one story. One lesson you learned the hard way. One opinion you wish more people would talk about. One leadership moment that changed you. One thing our industry gets wrong. One thing it gets incredibly right. One idea that has been sitting in your head waiting for somewhere to go.
Start there.
You do NOT need to be a professional writer.
Bring me the story, idea, lesson or perspective. We can figure out the rest together.
So if you are a member of Multifamily Mentor Matchmaking and you have something you want to share, raise your hand. I want to hear from you.
Brainwaves & Bullsh*t will always have a special place in my heart. It was bold, disruptive and VERY much a reflection of where I was when I started writing it.
But after 75 issues and nearly four years of building this community, I have a much clearer understanding of what sits underneath all of it.
Empower. Connect. Thrive.
So #76 isn’t about bringing an old newsletter back.
It’s about making more room for what comes next.
Same Tara. Same curiosity. Same willingness to say the thing.
Probably still some bullsh*t.
Just with an even bigger microphone.
And maybe the photo at the top of this issue says it best:
Connection doesn’t happen from the sidelines. Somebody has to make the first move.
Go make yours!
